It is never wrong to make a good-faith report if you suspect a child is being neglected or abused. If you need to do so and are not sure who to contact, please check out the Child Welfare Information Gateway listing for a contact number in your state. You never know when you could make a difference in someone’s life.

There are flaws in our current system and there are aspects of that system that need to be changed, to better protect children and families.  These changes need to start at the top, in the Legislature.  If you are concerned about the current state of affairs in our Protective Services system, know of a child who “slipped through the cracks” and remain in an abusive situation, or know of a family who was unnecessarily damaged by the system, contact your legislators and let them know your concerns.  If enough people speak up, they will understand that there is a problem that they need to remedy.  If you’re not sure who to contact, you can enter your specific information at this site to find out who your legislators are.
